Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to finding a professional photographer to take your wedding photos, it pays to ask questions. Find a local photographer you can trust, someone who’s upfront with how he works so there are no surprises. You’ll find those qualities and more when you hire me, Jake Garmon, to capture your wedding memories. Here are some of the most common questions I get asked:

What is your style?

My photography focuses on capturing authentic moments. My goal is to document your story, not to put you through a lot of forced posing. Your wedding is your big day, and you need enough coverage to bring it all back so that it’s fresh in your mind. That includes the ceremony, the reception, your guests, the venue … everything that makes your event meaningful.

Wedding photography packages shouldn’t offer just bridal photos. With every photo I take, I attempt to capture the essence that reflects your individual style. While I can guide you toward great images of the two of you, the best wedding photos are the ones that capture authentic, spontaneous moments.

What is your availability?

Everyone wants the best for their wedding and engagement photos. But I can’t be everywhere. So I limit the number of wedding commissions I take per year. Why? Overbooking my availability leads to an inferior product, and I refuse to compromise the quality of my wedding services. You should too.

I’m based out of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and 90 percent of the events I cover are within a one-hour drive from Asheville, NC. I’m available for most weekend weddings, but I urge you to book in advance. And get to know my work first through my portfolio.

What can we expect?

Once we confirm that I will be your Asheville professional photographer, you can count on me. We begin by crafting plans for your wedding experience. Typical weddings involve three to four photography sessions, including the individual portraits, the rehearsal and of course, the marriage ceremony and reception.

Depending on the pricing package you choose, you have my time and expertise for a set number of hours or all day. I sit down with you to plan exactly what to cover and where I should be during your event. You don’t want surprises, and neither do I. And on your big day, I work in the background, unobtrusively. You won’t know I’m there at all until you see the gorgeous photos I’ve taken.

All my pricing packages include:

  • High-resolution (printable) digital files

  • Shared copyright to all images (for future printing)

  • Online image proofing (to share with friends and family)

  • A high standard of excellence

  • Flexibility to add other services to the existing package

How many hours do we need?

My pricing packages are based on the time I spend with you. Every wedding is unique, so my job is to capture the moments of your special day that you’ll want to remember forever. When you want me to be everywhere and at every wedding-related event, you can choose that extra coverage. If you only want me to cover your wedding ceremony and the important events at the reception, then I limit my time to those.

Depending on how many events you want me to photograph, I may need more time or less time. You always have the option of adding more time to your event. We talk about your needs during our initial conversation.

Can we meet before our wedding day?

Establishing a genuine connection is vital to my process, so you must have contact with me before your event. We can have a formal chat on the phone or meet face-to-face. I need to know that you’re 100 percent confident in me as your choice. For that, we need to talk, and you need to look at my previous work. Only then can you be sure that I’m the right wedding photographer in Asheville, NC for you.

Contact me to discuss my availability. A deposit of 50 percent of the total package price reserves your date. The remaining 50 percent must be paid two weeks before your wedding date in Western North Carolina.
